We conclude our blog series on Donizetti with a collection of Bass arias, hand-curated by Fach and most with listening links, available on IPA Source.
The collections in this post have been hand-selected and grouped by IPA Source Founder & Principal Author, Bard Suverkrop.
The Italian composer, Domenico Gaetano Maria Donizetti (Gaetano Donizetti), born November 29, 1797, was a leading composer of the bel canto opera style during the first half of the nineteenth century, along Gioachino Rossini and Vincenzo Bellini. It is thought that Donizetti’s close association with the bel canto style influenced other composers such as Giuseppe Verdi.
IPA Source has arias for 21 of Donizetti’s operas. Additionally, IPA Source has dozens of Donizetti art songs. In total, there are 121 Gaetano Donizetti texts on IPA Source.
